The web clipper

Reading something you want to keep? Clip it. The web clipper is a tiny bookmark that grabs the page you're on — its title, its URL, and any text you've highlighted — and drops it into a Fresh Jots note you can read later on any device. No extension to install, no store to wait on, and it works in any desktop browser. Like every note, a clip is tamper-evident once it lands.

Add it to your browser

Show your browser's bookmarks bar (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + B), then drag this button up onto it:

Dragging is the install — clicking it here won't do anything (that's on purpose). Prefer to set it up by hand? Create a new bookmark, name it "Clip to Fresh Jots", and paste this as its URL:

How to use it

  1. On any page, optionally select the text you want to keep (leave nothing selected to clip just the title and link).
  2. Click Clip to Fresh Jots in your bookmarks bar.
  3. A Fresh Jots tab opens with the page's title, your selected text, and the URL already filled in. Edit anything you like.
  4. Hit Save. That's it — the clip is now a note.

Where the clip lands — and what's safe

  • Your session does the saving, not a token. The bookmarklet holds no password or API key — it just opens Fresh Jots, and because you're signed in, the note saves under your account. Nothing is sent anywhere except to Fresh Jots.
  • It respects your workspace. The clip becomes a note in whatever mode you're in — a rich note in Everyday, a plain note in Plain notes — and counts toward your plan's note and storage limits like any other note. Team-mode users land on the team new-note form.
  • You review before it's kept. Nothing is saved until you press Save on the prefilled form, so a stray click never writes a note.

On your phone

Bookmarklets are a desktop trick. On mobile, install Fresh Jots to your home screen and use your browser's Share → Fresh Jots option instead — it opens the same prefilled note form from whatever app you're sharing from.
